The regular board meeting began at 6:00 pm at CreekSide Clubhouse.

Minutes of previous Feb 2011 meeting were approved with the following amendments: (a) Members Attending shall be amended to reflect that Barbara Hall was not yet installed as a bd member and should not have been shown as ‘not attending’ (b) Teaching Pro: shall be amended as follows: Lorna intends to make info on Pro lessons easily available.

Financials: Mary O. advised the Bd that the CD for $24k+ has matured and been cashed out in order to fund the court resurfacing this Spring. A CD in the amount of $5k was purchased. Mary reviewed the state of SVTA’s financials. There were no questions.

QuickStart: Lorna reported that she has been promoting the upcoming QS session and has distributed info to the local papers and schools.

Special Olympics: Erin has been contacted by the S.O. rep, asking if SVTA has been able to identify a coach and volunteers. To date, there has been no response to the request in the SVTA newsletter and website. Erin will report back to the rep.

Court Cleaning: Judy reported that cleaning of the Maxwell courts has begun and that Xavier is doing a good job. It is anticipated that by June the courts will be ready for washing and Erin will provide the water broom.

Court Resurfacing: Larry Krieger, SVTA member, contacted the board to state that he thought the cost of resurfacing was high and he recommended another contractor. Erin followed up with the contractor but felt, because he was quite a distance from Sonoma, that he might not be as attentive as Adams. A comment was made that the selected color ‘blue’ was not as durable as green, and that it’s temperature was hotter. Erin will ask Adams.

Teaching Pro: Lorna reported that she has been speaking with Sam and is working on a schedule of his classes for Spring and Summer. We will publish when available. The summer classes (4 sessions of 2 wks ea) will be for high schoolers (2 hrs, 3/wk), under 11’s (1hr M/W), and little kids (2/wk 45 mins).
B&G Club is interested in one 6 wk session Wed 2:45-3:45 in their gym, although they stated sessions were also held on Maxwell. Lorna said Sam was willing to do the class.
but there seemed to be some confusion about his reimbursement. In the past, we have paid $60/hr to the pro.
Sam will do QuickStart Spring and Summer, 2 – 4 wk sessions.
Also, Sam will consider another Saturday session such as Hit with the Pro. He will do the April Free Adult Tennis Clinic, each Saturday in April

SVTA Vice President: Erin will ask Darcy Stephens is she is interested.

Membership Dues: Approx 60% of SVTA members have paid their 2011 dues. It was suggested that we seek new members, and offer to Sam, as teaching pro, a 50% payment of first year dues for any new member drafted by him.

Membership List: Lorna stated she will highlight 2011 paid members on the SVTA web roster.

SVTA Banner: Erin suggested getting a banner to promote membership.

Rally for the Cure (May 21, 2011): Erin reported that the committee has been meeting and is moving forward. The board questioned the $50 fee for tennis and lunch, and suggested that lunch only should have a lower fee. Also the board questioned not including men in the tournament. Erin will go back to the committee to discuss.

Maxwell Courts Tree Trimming: Erin, Barbara T., Swede T., and Connie Gustaffson met with the County on Tuesday Mar 16 at the site. The County stated they have no funds. They also stated that they do not wish to remove any trees. Connie G., Landscape Contractor, had previously done a report on the trees, and will now update to reflect current conditions, and will give an estimate for recommended tree work. Erin will provide photos for the report.
At the mtg., SVTA offered to share the expenses of the tree work, and will send the County a proposal.

Adding Toilet Facility: The County advised they could provide a Port-a-Potty for $80/wk. ($4160 annual). That fee would include furnishing and maintenance. Darcy previously priced PaPs at $1176 annual or w/ sink at $1700 annual. Maxwell Shed: It was suggested that SVTA provide a cooler in the shed for matches. Erin will speak to Darcy about obtaining a cooler.

Also, member Betsy Niles recently brought two plastic chairs to the shed for court use and Erin suggested getting more chairs.

The meeting was adjourned. Next meeting April 20, 2011 – CreekSide Clubhouse
